INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD (ISA)

At Sachdeva Public School, we are always developing and innovating to create a learning experience for the overall development of students. To instill a global dimension, our school registered with the British Council for the International School Award (ISA).

The ISA is an accreditation framework offered by the British Council. It is a global benchmarking project that appreciates schools for their outstanding contribution in developing a global dimension in curriculum and enriching teaching and learning through new practices.

To make the dream a reality, an annual ISA Action Plan was drafted which was approved by the British Council. Our ISA journey started by organizing and conducting a plethora of activities involving students and teachers of all grades, ranging from Kindergarten to Class XII.Topics with international dimension ranged from festivals to saving the environment, animals and food. The students participated in the activities with great zeal and enthusiasm.

The excitement and zest of the students and teachers seemed boundless as they worked diligently towards completion of projects. Links with schools from UK, Jordan, Lebanon and Bangladesh were successfully established and the students developed as global citizens.

The concerted efforts of the teachers and students bore fruit and SPS Pitampura became a recipient of the coveted International School Award by British Council for the period 2015-2018.

The project ‘Animal Kingdom’ had a great impact on the children and satisfied their curiosity about the animals found all over the world. They became familiar with the National Animals of India, China, Greece and Australia, thereby carrying forward their knowledge of animals to international level.

Many interesting activities such as mask making, visit to the zoo, fancy dress show and an animal based movie show were organized for the students. These activities not only built the confidence of the children but also promoted international learning about the animal world.

The most effective part of this project was the global connection that the students made by learning about the animals across various countries of the world and substantiating the regular curriculum with meaningful international perspective.

The students of classes I and II celebrated many national and international festivals with great fervor and enthusiasm. They participated in different dances related to different festivals. The response to mask making activity was stupendous. The students made masks of the characters related to the festivals celebrated all over the world. Many excursions were also arranged to religious places like gurudwara, church, temple etc. Students also participated in various art competitions. This project helped in developing the confidence of the students and acquainted them about festivals celebrated across the globe. It also made them aware of their cultural values and relevance of festivals in India.

The young learners discovered the exclusive enigma and charm of the monuments, national flags and symbols of India, China and France in the most interesting manner through this project. The students attended workshops and prepared models of the monuments of these countries. An exhibition was organized to showcase the models prepared by the students. The aura of the majestic models held everyone spellbound.

The mature ideas and views of the students on the preservation of monuments were reflected in their write-ups and highlighted their compassionate attitude towards the symbols of heritage. The activity on the National flags of India, China and France gave a platform to our students to identify and learn the significance of the flags of these countries. They drew the flags with great precision and solved worksheets. The effort of the students was stupendous as they enthusiastically participated in the comparative study of the National symbols.

This project fostered respect for monuments, national flags and symbols of the three countries taking the students a step further in making them global citizens of the interconnected world.

The project Go Green taught our students to respect ‘Mother Earth’ which has a miracle called life and created awareness to advocate the idea of protection of environment and safety of our global community. The students of class V presented a class presentation ‘Go Green’ which was thought provoking and encouraged our children to carry green values into their future life.

A talk on environment was organized for the students of classes IV and V wherein the resource person discussed different steps being taken in different countries to save the environment. This was followed by a Poster Making Competition for classes IV and V. The students made beautiful posters highlighting different ways to save our precious environment. Singing ‘Green Anthem’ song in the assembly reinforced the message that students are caretakers of our environment. The students of class III participated in Group discussion on methods being followed in different countries like Jordan and Lebanon to protect Mother Earth. Eco friendly activity – ‘Paper bag Making’ gave our students an opportunity to showcase their excellent craftsmanship. At the same time ‘Planting trees’ was an act of putting down roots and contributing to healthy and green future.

This online project helped the students exchange ideas with the students of other countries like Lebanon and Jordan. The keen interest and positive response of the children was contagious and laid a foundation of building performers and reformers of this precious planet.

Activities like visit to farm and soil study were conducted which provided hands-on experience to the students. Collaborative work with schools in Jordan and Lebanon expanded knowledge of the students.

The students exchanged recipes with their partner school and enhanced their culinary skills by preparing dishes of both the countries. The students conducted survey on various deficiency diseases and the steps being taken by the government to eradicate the problems. The visit to Mother Dairy helped the students to collect data about milk production. A comparative study on Mother Dairy and Muller Dairy of United Kingdom was also taken up.

The activities provided in-depth knowledge to the students about agricultural practices and nutritional and therapeutic value of food.

The project enabled the students to understand the culture and architecture of Delhi and Rome. They visited famous sites of Nanak Piao Gurudwara, Purana Quila, Humayun Tomb, Agrasen Ki Baoli, Book Fair etc. which gave them an insight into ancient and modern aspects of the city. The next activity was the fashion show followed by a debate on the impact of fashion on people. The students walked on the ramp gracefully and left the audience spellbound. The debate reiterated the need of adopting fashion in the right fervor.

A cleanliness drive was launched by the students to motivate the residents of the locality to keep their city clean. This project helped the students to enrich knowledge about life in both the cities preparing them to be cosmopolitan citizens of this global world.

The Inter school Model United Nations Conference was organized in school with the motto ‘Striving for Global peace”. Approximately 250 delegates from across 14 schools of Delhi enthusiastically participated in the conference. In the pursuit of excellence, training workshops were organized by the school for the beginners.

The management, staff, organising committee, Secretariat and the Conference staff together toiled hard to make the conference a great success. The Secretary General-Harry Chibber (class XI) and Director General-Ronak Sakhuja (class XI) worked at their level best to organize a fantastic experience for one and all.

With a total of 5 committees, a vast array of world issues ranging from the humanitarian and cultural to the economic and military were discussed and debated. To mention just a few, issues such as protection of civilians in armed conflicts, cyber-crime, UN peace keeping reforms, militarisation of the Arctic, millennium development goals 7 and 8.

The first day of the conference was marked by a lamp lighting ceremony and speeches of the Secretary General of the SPS MUN and head of school Mrs. Mona Rastogi. There were many in -depth discussions, arising doubts and fruitful results. For these three days, SPSMUN was a great opportunity for students to bring up their views and perspectives in the form of their solutions to their world problems.

The project on lives and works of international poets initiated with a workshop conducted by the English teachers to guide the pupils regarding the selection of eminent poets and their poems for power point presentation and recitation. The workshop enabled like students to do a detail analysis of prominent poets like John Keats, William Wordsworth, Robert Frost, Langston Hughes, Pablo Neruda etc. This was followed by a Powerpoint Presentation in which the students presented the slides on the lives and works of eminent poets. The pupils recited the poems with perfect stress, intonation and dictum. The activity instilled confidence in the students and gave them an opportunity to recite their poems fluently. It empowered the students and the teachers to work as a team and reach pinnacle of knowledge.
