Indo-Taiwan Cultural Exchange
The cultural exchange between the students of Sachdeva Public School, India and Shang Ren Elementary School, Taiwan was a remarkable event that showcased the importance of cultural diversity and knowledge sharing. The focus during the meet was enlightening discussions concerning the significance of millets and the steps being taken in India to reduce food wastage encompassing SDG 3 and 12.
Millets have been a staple food in India for centuries, but their significance is often overlooked. During the exchange meet, Taiwanese students were introduced to the nutritional benefits of millets. They learned that millets are rich in fibre, vitamins, and minerals, making them a valuable addition to a healthy diet. Millets are also drought-resistant crops, which is crucial in the face of climate change. The exchange highlighted the shared global challenge of preserving traditional crops and biodiversity. Our students showcased their creativity by singing a melodious song on including millets in the diet. Live demonstration of making ‘Millet Bhel’ exhibited culinary skills of our students and created an enriching environment during the meet.
The Indian students also presented an insightful discussion on the steps taken in India to combat food wastage. They emphasized the need to reduce post-harvest losses and promote responsible consumption. Notable initiatives discussed in the session included community-level composting, food banks and different organizations in India to reduce food wastage.
The cultural exchange meet served as a platform for the exchange of ideas and best practices between Indian and Taiwanese students. It was inspiring to see how both nations are committed to addressing food security and sustainability challenge. It emphasized the importance of international collaboration in addressing global food security and sustainability issues. This event fostered a deeper understanding of each other's cultures promoting teamwork and collaboration.

Collaboration with Shang-ren Elementary School has been a good learning experience for all the stakeholders- students, teachers and parents. Cultural meets during this session have helped us in achieving ‘Sustainable Development Goal no.4- Quality Education’. To make this collaboration even more beneficial , a virtual meeting between the principals and the teachers of both the schools was held. A presentation on the collaborative work taken up in the three sessions in the year 2022-23 was presented by the teachers of Sachdeva Public School. Attendees from both the schools discussed and deliberated and mutually agreed upon the topics of discussion for cultural exchange in the months to come. School Principal, Ms. Mona Rastogi appreciated the efforts of the students of both the schools. She said that collaboration is all about compassion, support, kindness and urged everyone present to make this journey even more fruitful in the years to come.

A cultural exchange meet was organised between the students of Sachdeva Public School, Delhi and Shang-ren Elementary School, Taiwan on 18 October 2022. The students of SPS gave the students of the partner school a peep into the rich and diverse culture of India by showing a PPT on the famous monuments of India. Icing on the cake were the short videos shown to their students which were made at Bharat Darshan Park where replicas of these monuments can be found.
The students of Taiwan got a glimpse of the range and diversity of Indian culture through a PPT on Diwali and were fascinated by the diyas, lanterns and bandhanwars that were shown to them.
The PPT presented by the young learners from Taiwan about famous places in Keelung was very informative. The scenic charm of these places was captured beautifully in the photographs included in the PPT. Rendition of Do-Re-Me by them was the crowning moment of the collaboration.
This meaningful and interesting cultural exchange was, indeed, a great learning experience for the students and teachers of both the schools and will go a long way in making our young learners global citizens of this interconnected world.

Working together is success'. - Henry Ford International partnerships provide students a platform to gain a deeper understanding of different cultures, traditions, lifestyles and global issues. They help the students understand the world better and broaden their horizons. Such partnerships also help to bridge the distance between countries, cultures and geographical boundaries and bring the world closer.
The students of Classes I to III of Sachdeva Public School, Pitampura got an opportunity to interact virtually with the students of Shang-Ren Elementary School, Taiwan. The aim of the session was to familiarize the students of both the countries with their national symbols which portray the culture and identity of one's nation. These symbols instill pride and unity among the citizens of a nation.
The students of both the schools shared the information regarding the national symbols of their respective countries with the help of excellent presentations. The young learners of SPS spoke about the national symbols of India with great confidence and a sense of pride. They also enjoyed learning about Taipei, the capital of Taiwan and its important landmarks. The students of India and Taiwan faired very well in the quiz based on the presentations given by their counterparts.
The discussion was followed by a fun activity in which students were asked to colour the national symbols of the partner state. The session concluded with rendition of national anthems of both the countries.
This session helped the students to foster friendship and lifelong contact with the students of Taiwan. This virtual meet enabled them to exchange ideas, work with one another, develop a sense of intercultural awareness and benefit from the diversity and richness of their partner country. The activity was a great learning experience for the students. It has given them memories that they will cherish forever.
