International Yoga Day
‘Yoga is a light, which once lit will never dim. The better you practice, the brighter you shine.’ -B.K.S. Iyengar
Yoga not only provides a holistic approach to health and well-being but also maintains a balance between all aspects of life. Due to relentless efforts of our honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, June 21 was declared as the International Yoga Day by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015. It is celebrated at the international level by organising activities like yoga training camps, yoga competitions and many other activities to enhance the awareness about yoga benefits among the people all over the world.
We at Sachdeva Public School, Pitampura celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and vigour. Special morning yoga session was organised for students of classes III-V, wherein they exhibited various Asanas, Pranayama, Surya Namaskar etc. enthusiastically. Zestful students of class V participated in logo making activity and understood the importance of yoga in their daily lives.
The students of grade IX and X demonstrated various asanas and the teachers discussed the benefits of yoga with them by showing some videos. A beautifully designed PPT showing the importance of yoga and various yogic exercises was also shown to demonstrate the fundamental philosophy of yoga and to make the children aware of its manifold benefits.
The celebrations concluded when the students of classes III and IV took out a rally and visited all the sections of primary school to raise awareness about this ancient Indian practice and to celebrate the physical and spiritual prowess that yoga has brought to the world. Our esteemed Principal mam Ms. Mona Rastogi encouraged the students to practice yoga regularly for their holistic well-being.
Overall, it was a great initiative taken by CBSE to help the children understand the importance of yoga in order to achieve a better life physically, mentally and spiritually.
